Memoirs ... and other stories...

Breakfast at the Mediteraneo Hotel, Dar-Es Salaam.. We spent 2 nights at Dar so that all 10 of us could get to TZ before we started for Dodoma Sun-morning. The last person got in 9pm, Sat night.. So this was a good call.2delayed flights and 1 failed alarm later, we were on a bus to Dodoma.. We started around 9am on Sun .. And we were told that it could take about 6hrs to Dodoma.. The roads were good, and the landscape even better. Like one of my colleagues stated, we moved from 1-wow-spot to another! Very beautiful… Its been raining in the last few weeks, so Africa, in some sense, has become very jealous .. literally turned green! .. Lunch took about 2hrs. We have been warned that this is not unusual in TZ and that we should plan to spend that much time when we go to a restaurant for a meal .. food takes a little while to get to the table. It was 6pm when we got to the New Dodoma Hotel. Many very senior people from the Univ of Dodoma hosted a dinner reception for us, which was extremely nice of them! This hotel is run by Indians, we were told .. and I was pleasantly surprised to see a few Indians at the hotel.. We heard later that there are Indians teaching at UDom. We met a lot of ppl tonight whose names I hope I will learn and remember through the next few days.Meeting junta today has got me more excited to be part of this Tanzanian vision.. I’m a little tired from the travel .. but work starts tomorrow … and I’m really looking fwd to the new day.Good Bye .. Kwa Heri!
